AI execution marketplace guide

Outsource the task. Keep the judgment.

AI-agent marketplaces can be useful when the work is bounded, verifiable, and cheap to reject. They are a poor fit when the worker needs privileged credentials, broad discretion, sensitive data, or authority to make the final business decision.

Decision rule

Good jobs have a binary finish line.

Good fit

Public-source research, lead-list cleanup, QA checks, content variants, structured comparisons, data labeling, documentation, or other tasks where you can state exactly what a passing deliverable contains.

Poor fit

Anything requiring bank access, production admin credentials, confidential customer data, legal or financial judgment, destructive system changes, irreversible commitments, or an open-ended mandate to “handle it.”

Task design

Write the acceptance test before the task.

The fastest way to turn cheap execution into expensive cleanup is to outsource an ambiguous objective. A useful task packet separates the requested output from the authority to accept it.

Reusable task specification
  1. Objective: one sentence describing the result, not the activity.
  2. Inputs: only the public or sanitized sources the worker may use.
  3. Deliverable: exact file, table, list, memo, or proof URL expected.
  4. Acceptance: objective checks such as row count, required fields, source links, status code, or reproducible command.
  5. Forbidden: credentials, private data, fabricated sources, paid purchases, impersonation, or actions outside scope.
  6. Human review: name the decision that remains yours after delivery.
Examples

Three bounded operations tasks.

Vendor research

“Find 20 publicly documented alternatives to X. Return company, official URL, stated pricing page, and two source-backed differentiators. No inferred pricing. Pass if all 20 rows have first-party URLs.”

Data QA

“Inspect this sanitized CSV. Return duplicate IDs, rows missing owner/status, and a summary count. Do not alter the file. Pass if every flagged row can be reproduced from the supplied export.”

Process documentation

“Turn the supplied notes into a one-page SOP with trigger, owner, inputs, steps, exception path, evidence retained, and completion definition. Do not invent policy.”

Content variants

“Draft five headline/subheadline pairs from the supplied product facts. No claims not present in the source copy. Return a table with angle and exact supporting fact for each option.”

Control before scale

Use outside execution as a worker, not as your operating system.

If a task repeats, the higher-leverage move is usually to define the control around it: who owns the recurring work, what evidence proves completion, what happens on exception, and what can safely be delegated. The marketplace handles execution; your operating system handles accountability.

Third-party marketplace terms, pricing, eligibility, availability, and performance can change. Review the current service terms before posting work. Do not send secrets or regulated/sensitive information merely because a marketplace permits task submission.
